Tutorial

Get started with chat-central in minutes.

1

Introduction

chat-central is a browser extension that automatically captures, organizes, and lets you search across all your AI conversations from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and more. Everything is stored locally in your browser — no account required, no data leaves your device.

2

Installation

Install chat-central from the Chrome Web Store. Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm the permissions. The extension icon will appear in your browser toolbar. That's it — conversations will start being captured automatically.

  1. 1 Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "chat-central"
  2. 2 Click "Add to Chrome" and approve the permissions
  3. 3 Pin the extension icon to your toolbar for quick access
  4. 4 Open any supported AI platform and start chatting
3

Auto-Capture

Once installed, chat-central runs quietly in the background. Every time you have a conversation on a supported platform, it's automatically saved to your local database. No buttons to click, no export steps.

5

Tags & Favorites

Keep your conversations organized with custom tags and favorites. Click the tag icon on any conversation to add tags. Star important conversations to find them quickly in the Favorites view.

6

Exporting Data

Export your conversations in multiple formats. Select one or more conversations, choose your format (Markdown, JSON, or ZIP archive), and download. Your data, your format.

  1. 1 Select conversations to export (or choose "Select All")
  2. 2 Click the Export button in the toolbar
  3. 3 Choose your preferred format: Markdown, JSON, or ZIP
  4. 4 Click Export to download your file
